Yesterday was really nice as it got almost to the freeze/thaw point. But today we may have hit 40! Sunny all day and very little wind. What a perfect day for this time of year. Funny that I thought about it twice but even then forgot to take the camera. Maybe I'll get a picture tomorrow to show the progress we're making. Working slow but getting it done. Now we probably won't cut for a week or so because we expect it to be really raw outside for the next week. Fortunately, most of the ice has fell off the trees and power lines so that won't be a concern. Hopefully everyone has their power restored by now.
Nice weather for sure. Maybe some of the ice melts & it helps get power back on to everyone. I see some arctic air is headed your way. Enjoy Here it is back to "the norm", 20s day time , teens night. Seeing some blue sky patches.
Glad you had a nice day today Sav. It was nice and warm here too. We missed the sun though. It was mostly overcast here. But the warm air and a little wind took the ice and snow off the trees. Glad of that. It was a good day to work outside. Glad you are making some progress. I took a little time with Bobcat today and moved some snow piles back. I figured I better make room while it is nice. It is early in winter yet, and we will have some more storms for sure!
Right Dave. We'll be wishing for those temperatures come Monday. Gas, enjoy the warm as it will be short lived. That sunshine really seems great to have too. November and December around here we don't get to see much of it. For sure lots of ice fell today and it was a blessing for many.
We had a gorgeous sunny day here that got up into the low 50s. My brother and I took his dogs for a five mile walk in the state game lands near here. I haven't done that in far too long so it was good to get out and feel the sun.
That sounds great Brian! I am going to walk through the trail tomorrow with the pole saw and see what I need to clean up.
We've been spoiled. Our area seems to have been spared the really bad or really cold weather so far this year. I wore a polar fleece jacket and took it off and just walked in a t shirt the second half of the walk. Highly unusual for this area this time of year.
Almost the same here Dennis. I got out and roof raked again yesterday, then finally plowed the drive this morning after the last 3" snow we got. The sun and warm temps have most of the ice and snow off the roof and some patches of the drive. Mom and I took a drive to Alpena (I was told Gaylord was getting hit with ice and sleet) today for a few things to get out of the house. Looks like I'll be getting back into the Oak fulltime and turning on the DV heater too.
We had another nice day today & tomorrow should be even better. The ice was coming off the trees pretty good, we even had some limbs coming off the pines today. I spent the day plowing/cutting back the banks on the driveway, once I was done with that I plowed some paths to the wood stacks, the worst part was the ice underneath. I think next week my wife will give me back all the spark plugs for the saws, thanks Mrs. Sav for giving my wife that info!
It was a very nice day. I saw 45 on my thermometer. I scraped the ice and snow buildup off the back patio, then did the same to the driveway. All 110 feet of it. Kinda sore now, but it felt good to be outside. Problem is I didn't factor in sunshine reflecting off the snow and I have a bit of sunburn on my face. Whoops. Next week it's back to the teens for highs. The warm air was nice while it lasted.
Golf does sound good right about now. I don't think I'll be seeing grass around here until April. Even with the temps today I still have 7 inches of snow on the ground. That layer of ice helped keep the snowpack intact.
Haha sorry! I met a guy from Alaska out there, didn't talk very long but said he comes to Ohio for the winters.
Spent much of that sunny day getting reset for the storm coming in tonight. Prediction for here is 6-10 of heavy wet snow to fall on the trees already leaning over with a heavy coating of ice. Then a dose of arctic air followed by a storm predicted to be more significant than the one we are getting tonight. No place for anyone who isn't prepared.
Yesterday was mild here and down to 28 last night.. Temp is above freezing at 37 right now and we're expecting over an inch of rain by tomorrow AM then cold is coming again. Loaded up with firewood around an hour ago so I don't have to pull the wagon through mud and be ready for cold when it gets here again.. Been a crazy winter here so far and very little snow to this point.. Long as the jet stream is on this course we should be good but you never know around here!
