I don't think Okies actually owns any mills. They just purchase from other mills and rebag them. Should have no worries in quality as its a Liggies and Bear Mountain merger. Bear mountain quality is tops IMHO.
Yep,not cost effective to ship sawdust from the west coast. But appears they have and have owned the east coast plants, hence the difference of the pellets.Little logic here, cheaper to produce it locally than ship it,buy the plant out, make "your"product, sell it under company name.Same as budweiser.
maybe they are.went to 4 different stores in the last week, never saw them. But you have to remember for a large area not very many people live in montana, low sales market.Ligs is fairly local,so is quality you can depend on.Eureka is local but is total trash 4 out of 5 years. So much for buying local!!
WRONG....we own 2 mills, one in BC and one in Nova Scotia.......Bear Mtn and Ligs MERGERED to form a new parent company, but they will still operate as independant units...nobody was sold....we also buy product from other companies, or we act as their sales agent .... I think we only have 2 dealers in all of MT, and remember we don't set retail pricing...so a dealer is free to set whatever price they feel their own market will bear....that is simply supply and demand.
I'm back there in April....where are we going to eat?....are will you be getting a sunburn somewhere?
Well hi doug, and thanks for input.I will say that I would burn oakies or north idaho over anything out there, but they have to be in the store and at a fair price. Also brings me back to long time ago posts that the east coast oakies are not the same that I buy out here, cannot ship sawdust!!
actually, I am......april 2-12 in St Johns, and at the end of the month, Puerto Vallarta (that's a work trip)
its the cost of transport that kills ya! At only 24-26 tons per truckload, gets pricey......costs around $50-$65/ton alone just to get product up here from Virginia....IF you can find a trucker to haul it
Yep you gotta think about it.Shipping sawdust all the way across the country to you,yet me only several hundred miles away, cannot buy them. Why?Gov subsidies, our taxes paying to keep something afloat.
NO....but I have far more demand for our product in NE than we do in MT....plus the market supports it better out there.
will not disagree,do not have anymore in basement, but earlier this winter the bags(pictures) of ingriedients was different than what was purchashed out here.
