As I read this post I’m reminded of a humorous video I watched a year or so back. I’m not sure how close echo bay is to you folks but it put me in mind of what you folks are working at! I don’t know how to get the video from you tube over to here but I remember the title. “The madness of collecting firewood for an off grid home” Maybe some of you even know these people? If someone knows how to get that video over here I think it might be entertaining. Thanks.
Billy is taking risks to get that wood, that's for sure! I guess he must know what he's doing... adding water to chainsawing looks pretty scary.
Billy Proctor has lived in the area all his life and is now a published author of several books. Here is a link to a short excerpt from one of his books. Lessons from a life lived in the wilds
Billy Procter is a legend in this area, commercial fisherman (troller), logger, built his own marine ways and boat repair facility off the grid, and conservationist!
Lots of good logs washing up today! This is a town beach though so they don’t really like you driving on it to go get the wood. There’s plenty of other places that will have good logs where you can drive right up to them.
I never knew anything about this ! Thanks for posting....and showing us the best looking country on Earth
Uh, yeah it is. Like 3 cuts and resharpen, no matter how much I try to broom or blow it off. Luckily I have enough clean wood that I don’t have to harvest any of this right now. I have in the past though and it’s not bad for free. Got a nice mix of walnut, ash, oak and poplar a few years back. No need to tie it up to claim the wood either, it’ll sit there for years. Most people just pile it up and have a bonfire.
