For all you locust lusters. Picked this up for a little more than a case of good beer.

    That’s a biggin’!!

I’ve burned lots of SBH and a little BL. They are very close for me but due to it’s availability, I voted shaggy.

BL got my vote. Don't have any shagbark or burned any, but have lots of BL in stacks and in the woods.

Living in bbq country I’ve always wondered how there are enough hickories to provide smoke to them all and who is it that has the contract to drop off the wood and who’s land are they poaching hickory from?
Shagbark and Pignut are slow growing. Mockernut is a bit faster growing, but pignut is more common. Maybe the bbq wood poachers have cut down all the shagbark, because I see them less than mockernut.

I have the exact same thoughts. There is a 180 acre piece of undeveloped land next to me, hasn’t been logged in 50 years and even then was very selective. Pretty sure the hickories are poached regularly. I hear saws running sometimes that seem to be in the middle of that tract.
