I went BL. I love Hickory, but Shagbark is scarce here. The Hickory is tougher to process & gets bug eaten as many have said. I tied the poll back up at 17-17. Honey Locust vs Hedge/Osage Orange would be a good one too.

I've burned tons of BL, never seen Hickory in NW WIS so really can't comment on it. Before I moved I used to get all the BL I wanted at the city recycle area, sure was nice to go down there buck up the logs, load up my trailer and leave the mess there.

Now I live on 23 acres of mostly Aspen and I actually don't mind processing it since its mostly straight, few limbs, light, and splits like butter. It may not have the BTU power of BL but it burns better than snow balls.

I imagine they smell about the same when burning! I know that willow stinks! Never burnt a wet sponge covered in poo. Which one has higher BTU rating?

When you type in the box to respond look in the upper corner...the 5th letter "A" can be clicked on to give you the choice of font size. Took me a while to figure that out. Im better with a chain saw than a computer.

Resized the font on each "echo" (its the middle "A" in the tool bar when you are replying)
