The electric saw "myth" comes from 110AC electric saws with no protective shut down circuits. Most if not all (newer? ) battery saws have OL circuits that disconnect from battery power if for not other purpose but to protect the battery from an OL condition.
The Makita has several chip controlled shutdown conditions which my 120 volt chainsaw does not have. The 120 volt saw is a "widow maker". My opinion based on experience with the shutdown conditions is chaps would stop the Makita.
Merry Christmas! With temperatures over 50 deg and the sun shining, the outdoors beckoned today after the family opened presents. My Makita's new chain which cut almost 30 pieces of the 18" DBH red oak needed sharpening after producing more smoke than chips. Half an hour in the vice, one tooth link at a time, produced a near new chain. The newly sharpened chain made short work of cutting the last two 20" lengths. The largest butt cut: I hand split one or two rounds a day. Nice wood.
