Just googled this and it seems as if we are having Thundersnow...while rare anywhere, it is not listed as common in New England. Interesting read...

    Thundersnow - Wikipedia

If you don't hear from me, it is quite possible like Dorthy I blew into Kansas.

I do not remember ever having it here to be honest with you, but that is not saying it never happened here before. They said it means a lot of heavy snow, and we sure got that.

If you were to see a relief map (3D) of Maine, where I live is on this rather short range, just inland from the coast. My elevation is only 700 feet, but I am also only 10 miles from the ocean. That is why we get nailed by the wind and gets lots of snow.

It is so windy here they were going to put up (3) 1.5 megawatt wind turbines on me, but the !@#$%^&* town voted it down. $1500 per month, per tower; jeesh...would have been nice to get something out of this wind for a change.

No measuring sticks but something in the 15-18" range on the ground, did my first set of rounds. Not terrible but a good amount of snow.

No thundersnow here, sounds like a good time

I'd say I have about 10" on the ground. Went out to run some errands out of boredom earlier, did a quick clearing of the driveway and a few neighbors drives as well. It didn't seem too heavy when in as plowing, so I'll leave the shoveling and snow blowing until the end.

We are officially barricaded into this house now.

The wind kept blowing in the mudroom door and the door going to the firewood shed, so I brought in enough wood for the night, took a block of wood and jammed the firewood shed door shut, then for the mudroom door cut a 2x4 to length and jammed that door tightly shut too. A shovel against the barn door kept that one from blowing open.

BigFoot...Maine SWAT Team...Blizzard winds...nothing is coming in this house tonight; not now! (LOL)

We have been having some below zero temps for the past couple of weeks. -10 this morning but should be in the low 30's on Sunday. Still haven't fired up the snowblower. Biggest snow this year is around 1 inch so far:D

Hard to tell how much snow we "actually" got with the drifting. I know it was just about up to the hubs on the truck when I got home from work at 3. Blew paths to the stacks and around owb to keep the heat flowing. Too windy to blow the driveway - it'll just close back up again overnight. I'll do it in the morning before heading out to blow the apartments clean and do some basement work over there.

As an aside, Mrs Papi has some chicken stew and scratch made rolls going, so it smells Freakin delicious in here! Great to walk into after being out in the elements for a bit.
