Thank you I really probably should have gone with some contrasting trim, being how I'm so artistic & all But I'm a rather plain & boring person. It does match the house roof though.
Not the best pics but got the gutters put on the barn this morning. It is 5" wide and 40' long. One quote was $500-600. Got a hold of an Amish guy and he did it for $280. Took him about an hour.
Well, finally a day that wasn't 88° and humid as He!!, and it didn't rain. Lately it seems to only be one or the other So, the water line is run, will get gravel next week for backfill, and one step closer. Edit.. all the water in the ditch was released from what I had previously dug. this is well after most of it drained off. Got to spend some quality time with my friends.. Mr pickax and Mr shovel Always a good time to be had when they show up. My boots weren't as impressed though. Was a well spent 4 hours. Overall, a Gooder day.
Dont no how I missed this part. Sure does look great.. I bet your boots had a bath after your digging. Good deal on the gutter.
Ok, can use some advice from someone with experience putting in drainage ditches. I'm running the gray water line down to a drainage ditch between properties. So, I've gone as far as I can from the barn, now I have to backfill what's done already in order to finish from the drainage area back. Of course it's constantly filling with water, so I figure why not use it for excess runoff drainage as well. Thought was to backfill with large rocks, topped by gravel, then weed barrier and dirt. There will be more grading done, so I don't want to get too far along and find out it all has to be undone, and I got to worrying about all the weight from the rocks on top of the schedule 40 pipe. Rocks available.. Ditch.. I have 41' of 2" PVC out to the cleanout, it will be another 40ish ft of 3" PVC to the ditch. Will all the weight be too much? Will the flat rocks cause problems, or be beneficial? Would I be better off backfilling with screened topsoil? Almost everything here is clay. Once all the rock goes in, I'm not even entertaining the thought of removing it. Thx
I personally wouldn't put those rocks against the pipe...very often when we do water or sewer line repairs, the break is right at a big rock that the pipe is sitting on, or the rock is at least right against the pipe. We generally totally cover the pipe with #8 limestone before putting any native dirt/rocks back in the ditch.
Thanks, appreciate the advice. Just was thinking, maybe lay the flat rocks on top of the gravel, that way none are pointing vertically. Should help disperse weight, and hopefully provide some protection as well.
