Bar Reconditioning

    Is it worth it trying to recondition or regap a bar?

    If the bar is special like for a vintage saw it can be worth it. Otherwise it might be better to replace it. Closing the groove can be done but it should be closed enough to be ground back to the proper gauge. Opening a .050" to a .063" works well though.
    Normally I just keep the rails square and when it's time has come so be it.
