That looks like a Husky with crank stuffers.

Improper air filter maintenance contribute to that one you think?
I always cringe when I see guys grab the AF and blow it out but pay no attention to all the 'crete dust that fell into the airbox/intake while they were fooling with it. :picard:

The bearing that was bad was on the PTO side and I think it was a lack of oil. I also saw some discoloring on the rod to crank journal from to much heat. So I replace the crank and rod too. The only thing I kept was the piston and cylinder, everything else got replace. I got the saw for free because the owner did not want to spend the money to repair it. I still have the saw.

You are right it is amazing how much of that concrete dust gets into the filters on these saws.

While in Rural King in Norwalk today, I looked at bar oil and all they had there was Husqvarna winter weight bar oil. They had it stacked 3 places in the store and some of it had a quarter inch of dust on it. I didn't see a price on it anywhere and I didn't ask cuz I have almost a full gallon of winter weight at home. Of course when I go looking for it, it will be hard to find... They had a TON of pre-mix fuel and almost no 2-stroke oil. Hope that's not a developing trend... I'll mix my own thank you...

I think there is a growing segment of the population that can't figure out how to do that...:picard:

    Great info, Kevskihl !
    :handshake:

It's interesting that the "recommended" 50:1 ratio leaves no oil in the crankcase!

I am glad I have three plus gallons of B&C oil hoarded.
My manual that came with my 1977 Husky L65 calls for 25:1 I ran it for years at 32:1 then ran it with 40:1 still no issues though it doesn't get a lot of use anymore it has never been apart.
My 2006 357xp calls for 50:1 but I use 40:1 with quality synthetic 2 stroke oil.
I run all my 2 strokes at 40:1 now. Oh yeah with Non Ethanol gasoline.

Due to using those old lower grade oils...even plain motor oil was commonly called for on some old 2 strokes...all 2 strokes can be used on modern oil at modern ratios...except Marine stuff...that takes Marine rated oil.
In other words, only need one jug of 2 stroke mix for everything... except the boat.

Or just one for everything, if you use a direct injected oil formulation. At least I hope so! I use Amsoil HP Marine at 35-40:1 mixed with ethanol free fuel treated with double dose of Sta-bil Marine. Have a bunch sitting around for the Evinrude so I figure it’s silly to buy other oil for ope.

I'm not positive...but I think OPE oil is designed to take higher operating temps...

That makes perfect sense to me! From now on I will use air cooled specific oil, and thanks for pointing that out!

I think some do it out a fear of ethanol gas. The nearest place I can get ethanol free pump gas is over an hour away. I mix my own 2 stroke for mowers, blowers, trimmers and saws. I buy ethanol free 4 stroke in a quart can from Lowes for my Honda ice auger. I use about a half gallon a year. Can't be getting gas on my hands the morning of the fishin' trip.

Stopped by the TSC in question this afternoon and none on the shelf. I asked and kid tells me they got some in and it sold. I asked how much did they bring in. He says a box full which was either 4 or 6 gallons.:picard: I was like WTH! At least i didnt go out of my way for the trip. Guess it must be a shortage of their brand.
