Yeah, the Rural King nearest me in Chambersburg, PA still had some until just after New Years at least. I've been getting one Cam2 gallon at the $6.99 price every time I go in. I have three stored up waiting for use. Now, I don't cut as much as some of y'all, so that's a pretty good hoard of bar oil for me.

That said, I think I also saw the Gard brand there, also at the $6.99 / gallon price. Perhaps Chambersburg is in the middle of the transition. Regardless, still happy to have my little hoard of Cam2. Now, if I can only get the remaining TSC bar oil used up... he he he.

I prefer the Cam2 of the two.

Yep, me too. I've probably waited too long to stock up now. :headbang: Maybe it will come back, who knows? Rural King's a decent store for outdoor and farm stuff but their stocking and inventory control is horrible (at least at our local one).

Thank you! Maybe some of it will find its way back down to SW Virginia.

Our local RK has the CAM 2. Didn't notice the other stuff last time I was there (week before Christmas).

Thanks! I guess all of ours must have gone to the PA stores. LOL

I emailed Rural King customer service (corporate level) to ask if they were still planning to stock both Gard and Cam2 oil like they used to, explaining that my local store used to carry both but now they stock only Gard. This is the reply I received - not sure if it even came from a real person:
"at this time I am unable to locate the item 'Gard and Cam 2 Chainsaw Bar Oil', we may no longer carry this item. I do apologize. "

As I've said already, Rural King's inventory control is a joke. Their customer service, the few times I've had questions, is even worse. Grrr!

Just went to RK today. They have both brands on the shelves here.

Thanks for checking! I guess if y'all in PA like this oil over Gard, you might want to stock up while it's still available.

I like it. I don't think it's a big deal, but Gard had sediment in the bottom of the transparent bottles I used for convenience. Which reminds me... I thoroughly rinse Slime Tire Sealant bottles and man are they slick for filling without spilling!

I used to use a gear oil bottle many moons ago. From some old stock Quaker State chainsaw bar oil that came in gear oil style bottles. It kept me from spills while filling the saws, but not when time to refill the bottle itself. 6/half dozen

This style laundry detergent bottle acts like a no spill for bar oil. Works excellent, if the oil is super cold just use the spin off cap to pour.

After the run-around from Rural King not finding Cam2 in their inventory, I stopped at one a little over an hour from home in Wytheville, VA as I was passing through headed further south. They had a pallet of Cam2, and I had room in the budget for four cases at $6.99/gallon, so I should be set for a while. I'm sure my local store will get it back in stock now, and probably cheaper too, but at that price I felt it was a good bet.

Probably about 22-25 gallons now with the 12 I just bought. I go through 5-6 gallons a year some years, although I went through a lot more this past year cleaning up storm damage. I was caught short when Helene hit and ended up paying stupid prices for a couple gallons since everyone was sold out. I've tried to stay ahead ever since, especially when I can catch a good deal. I figure if I'm a couple years ahead on wood piles I ought to stay ahead on oil. LOL. Plus I like the Cam2 for the reasonable price and it looks like it may be getting harder to find.

Glad you found some Cam2. That's a good price. We've been in that same store several times, as we go to MI or PA. Usually get 3-4 cases when we stop in... 20240501_130125.jpg
In fact, we met Chud there on the way to MI in '24 and passed the FHC sign off to him... 20240501_132104.jpg 20240501_132410.jpg
