We live in eagle country. campinspecter's brother used to have an eagle wait for him to catch small fish and throw them out into the water. The eagle would swoop down and grab the fish. Quite the sight to see. We have them regularly swoop down over the house and down the hill to roosting trees in the green space.
I have been seeing a large number of eagles on the ground in fields this spring. (I realize that there must be a deer carcass in the field that they are working on.) And the crows, of course, aren't too far away from them......
The eagles eat well here fall - spring, plenty of deer for them to chow on, if the pickings get slim there are plenty of locals that will refill the buffet for them...
