113 in the hopper now 30 left in the stash, last year 150 total going to need a few more to make it .
#177 going into the hopper now. Does anyone carry pellets in the off-season? I would like to split the cost burden and get half now and the rest next fall.
We don't have pellet houses down this way , there are several in New England area that have spring buy programs , another option is http://www.woodpellets.com/ I've never used them ,but they seem to have a very good rep.
You need to look around in your area. Places to look are feed and farm supply stores but not the ones that act like big boxes. Some lumber yards also carry pellets. What is in your area I don't know. This year has been hard on at least one of the local feed stores, they had placed a sizable order with their supplier but due to storms the shipments got held up all over the pipeline. They were rationing from before Christmas on.
A pellet house near me will hold them if you pay for them up front. So it doesn't offset the cost any.
I wish more places had excess storage on-site to be able to do this...but this is the exception and usually not the rule for most dealers.
I know several burners that have their extra ton delivered and stored outside until they have enough room to haul the whole ton in. Most store them in the corner of the driveway and do an extra wrap with a tarp(over the mills wrapping) to protect them. Trick is to keep them wrapped tightly and don't let water get to them. I haven't heard any of them having issues other than a bag or 2 getting moisture.
Agreed. Keeping them off the ground on the original pallet (and maybe even double stack another pallet underneath) and tight wrap w/ tarp should keep them dry until space is available. I'm pretty sure most people have room outdoors for 2-3 tons.
