Hi All - recently been doing some summer jobs and one of those is a close inspection of my stove, pipe, and cleaning the chimney of course. Towards the end of the burning season I realized I had gotten all I could out of this baffle plate - a piece of steel I had cut maybe 6 years ago. Cleaned out the stove and put a new plate in 17” by 12”. 17” is the width required in my Fisher Papa Bear. Would have liked to have gone a little longer than 12” but getting it in the door of the stove would have been a problem. New baffle and cleaned out stove waiting for October.
Squeaky clean. That took some serious heat and a lot of heat cycling to warp that plate to that extent! If only they made them out of Inconel you'd never have to replace them.
I think the warped one lasted at least 6 years - got two plates this time so hopefully I’ll be good for awhile. Never realized how important a baffle was till the end of the burning season when I ran the fire without one - seems the heat went right out the chimney.
