While cutting up some wood in the backyard I got a couple more rounds out of the Hemlock and made the dumb mistake of twisting my back and bending over to grab one rather large water logged hemlock round. A familiar sharp pain in my abdomen and I was off to the doc to tell me the bad news or the less bad news. Lucky for me it was the less bad news, I just twinged my previously herniated muscle. However I'm stuck not being able to cut for at least two weeks. You know what they say, young and dumb.
Sometimes learning ( or lack thereof ) is painful. Hope it heals faster than expected and can get back to that hemlock sooner than later.
Tough break, good thing it's not as bad as frst thought. As the saying goes; take care of your body and it will take care of you.
Did the doctor mention anything about not being 10' tall and bullet proof as you age? Take care of yourself and give it time to heal
Three years ago will moving some huge rounds I felt the tear, dropped it grabbed a beer. Wondering what the H just happened I haved moved big rounds for years !! Later that night saw the not in my lower abnomen. Sure as the world a hyneria !! Waited about a year to have the surgery, that was eleven months too long. I was miserable, and my wood processing showed.
I figured I had teared the muscle I hurt previously working in a warehouse doing basically the same thing but I got lucky this time, not sure if I would've done more serious damage but I definitely learned my lesson for the second time.
Upstate, You only get one body, replacement parts are expensive and painful. But, the human body has a uncanny ability to heal if you give it a chance. Two weeks off this time of year is not the worst thing. Just remember to keep the calorie intake lower in relationship to the energy expended. You'll be fine.
Dennis, Like the, "easy on the eye's" dietician told me. It is all tradeoffs. Ice Cream = a little extra exercise.... If it was me, I would have the ice cream and I would put some chocolate on it. Then go for the extra walk tomorrow.
Well, right now walking is difficult for me but I do have that bike on a trainer indoors so will use that. Might even put some maple syrup on the ice cream.
Man sorry to hear you are on light duty for a few weeks....... I know what it can be like as I have reoccurring back issues that leave me hanging from time to time. Mine flared up around Christmas and it was over a week before I felt good enough to get back after it so I hope you heal up quickly!
