I really wonder if he can make a go of it this summer. He sustained some sort of hand laceration cutting wood down in Chile, and now he has his right arm in a sling. He's 70 and diabetic. If his kid was a worker, maybe, but the kid is a total slacker. The truck is looking more and more decrepit, as is his van, which doesn't even have a current inspection sticker.
Go over the cities head and call the state health dept. and the state epa. And let the city know you are.
My house in Maine was formerly rented by a tenant who had junk all over the yard. It was always interesting to see what my kids found in the yard, or what showed up when raking the leaves, random car parts like window crank arms, sections of trim, assorted hardware. The crazy part was my lot was only 1/4 acre, surrounded by other houses
Midwinter, you are in New Hampshire? What about bears? Do you have them in the vicinity? Seems like the animals have more rights than the people so if bears/raccoons/possums/etc are a concern, contact your Game Wardens. They will ticket for feeding wild animals, creating a nuisance and stay on top of it. Might be another way around the barn to close the door on this problem.
We are pretty much in town. When a bear shows up, it makes the local newspaper. I think the code violation thing has prompted some action. He hired a couple of laborers to rake his yard, and this morning I saw him at the dump, dumping trash, out of his uninspected, un-dump-permitted van.
Midwinter I fully agree with farmer steve here. I would give the town one chance or maybe two then go over their heads.
Midwinter if they don't respond this time I'd call the New Hampshire Department of Health! They regulate food trucks and you have to have a license to run one. This guy's license should have been revoked a long time ago
Surely he must be falsifying his food service cleaning logs. Nice of him to keep the neighborhood roaches and vermin fed.
