I was right there with you...until one day I figured it out.
This kid brought an old Honda ATC in for no start/hard start...the starter rope was pretty short and I kept hitting the end on every pull...it broke, I retied it and it happened again, almost right away...retied it again and it happened on the first pull. Service manager said go ahead and replace the rope...problem solved...mainly because I could give it a good pull without finding the end of the rope.
And I have found that to be true many times since that day years ago also...every time I have a rope break, it was from giving it a good yank and smashing the end of the rope.
The only rope I recall having break otherwise was on my clone MS660 with base gasket delete...I gave it a good pull and the comp release popped right away...elcheapo farmertec starter rope was the weakest link.

roll it over gently to get it on the start of the compression stroke , let the rope go all the way back in with the recoil, slowly pull rope just until starter pawl engages and yank it. Getting it on compression stroke really helps avoid this from happening since it is ready to fire as soon as you start to pull it so you don't have to pull it through an exhaust cycle when it does nothing but use up rope.

I have a 192T where on the first few pulls, it does not pull smoothly. It is really jerky. After I get it running, restarting is not a problem while it is warm. Any idea on what could be causing that?

When cold hold it between your legs and with choke on give it 3-4 full pulls slowly ; kind of like thump-thump-thump through the piston cycles , then find the start of the comp stroke set the pawls and give it a pull. This really helps in reducing unnecessary hard pulls on the rope and makes starting a cold saw pretty easy.
Not sure why you might be feeling like it is jerky other than it doesn't like being cold.

IMG_4355.png It’s been a day for pull ropes here today. 3 of these showed up last night. I will only use True Blue in this application. I also tell the guys if it dont start in 6 pulls you can yank on that thing all day and it’s probly not gonna go, stop and figure out whats wrong or find someone that can.

It acts the same no matter the temps. Spring, summer or fall it doesn't make a difference. I don't do much cutting in the winter.

I have a 445 that acts very similar. Very "lumpy" on cold start but not on a restart. You gotta commit when pulling the rope or the powerhead will end up in your teeth. I just assumed it was from good/great compression? I've owned this one since new. It got taken care of after the previous 435 burned up.

If my saws sit for summer and don't get ran they always need about 10 pulls to get going when I break them out in fall. Any ideas?
