Nice work Ray. It looks like you are having fun and that is a great hobby.

I have a friend who spends time at a makers space outside of Boston welding up square tube for desks and shelving. He is going for the industrial look in his pieces.

Give me a shout if you need any wood worked up for a project. I'd be glad to help ya.

Thanks Jon! Hope you're feeling good now.. Yes, the industrial look is in and I like wood and metal or tile together.. Rebar just adds a dimension to the overall look.. Hope to try repurposing some steel sometime if I ever find some..

Your quite welcome. You have something I don't ideas. For some reason I just always think too big and get overwhelmed and they end up as unfinished projects hahahaha. Like for instance I have a set of 4 large strap hinges that are unfinished. It's made out of 1/4" X 4" wide X 40 " long (once the hinges are together and opened up) material so it takes quite a while to heat up and move material. I need to think on a smaller scale more trinkets if you will.

Cool projects and nice work raybonz !!

I did a bit of work this morning myself.:D
My Mom liked the leaf I made the other day so I hammered one out and made it able to hang up. I used some beeswax on it at the end. 87EA4D74-8D8C-4146-B5D6-BA13D73714A3.jpeg Then I made another set of tongs from the set I bought, these are flat jawed. This is the blank 096E9621-E1EC-4895-8BA8-0B3083A20851.jpeg Draw out and round the handles 7A4D6362-38BB-41DC-9990-B5D19940CA11.jpeg
Give the jaw a twist and punch the rivet hole 1F840704-8ABE-4CA7-A81B-B76EABF56FB0.jpeg All that’s left is to set the rivet then heat them up and adjust. DA1FE8D7-FB80-4C98-A229-0D7A77833374.jpeg

My Dad needed something too, he doesn’t know it yet though....:emb: He finally found an antique lumber grading stick and I thought he should have a place to hang it.
Started this with a piece of 5/8 round bar. Split one end hot with a chisel then drew out the points. Also flattened down and punched a hole for hanging. 1787D719-6361-47E9-B8F6-0CEE7E6480CF.jpeg Of course forgot to take more pics, but I chisel split the other end and started two small leaves. I decided to scroll up the leaf stems all by anvil and hammer. The squared up and twisted the holding points and formed it all to this. Good projects. An early stumbling block is being able to have the confidence to go to the next step to where you want to be.

You split and tapered the stock, made leaf ends and scrolls. Many would stop at scrolls and worry about making a bad leaf end and ruining the piece.

You are definitely on your way to making some great pieces.

Thanks guys! I’m just tinkering and learning from my screw ups! Cool thing is that if you mess something up it seems for the most part you can massage thing back together.

Pinterest gives me lots of ideas.. That's where I saw someone was selling them.. I try to improve on their ideas and make them my own.. Other than that Pinterest takes some getting used to..

The leaf is pretty cool! Is this a key chain ornament? Forging looks interesting! I watch forged in fire and love this show!

Thanks! They are not to bad to make except for the star and the painting.. Someone sells these on Etsy for $59.00 without a star! I could do that in 2 hours and that's taking my time..

If you can make the trip up north, bring some to the next gtg. I'm sure you'd be able to sell them.

A good winter's project , if'n you had the time.
