You can always put a propeller on the PTO shaft if it makes you feel more at home.

I'll take the tire off the machine, but I would take it to a tire place, "screw that"! I am just not equipped for that much.

My rear tires are loaded (calcium chloride in the tube). When I stuck a deer antler through it into the tube I had the tire guy come to me. On those big tires it can be simpler to leave it mounted to the tractor so they can pry all they want and have it held firmly upright while they are working. The Mrs thinks thinks that cost us about $200 total. We used to have a guy associated with the Farm Bureau come, and he was quite inexpensive, but has retired.

I can see and understand that this will be a new "learning" curve for me. I've never owned a piece of equiptment of this size before. I'm just a small guy with "growing pains". :whistle: I've worked on many large projects but in military surroundings and tools readily available.
I have a decent amount of tools and items I've collected over the years, 3/4" drive sockets, many larger hand wrenches up to 2-1/2", 80gal air compressor and impacts and so on. I'm sure I'll be learning all the time and I'm not afraid to "ask" for help. Anyone who is, will either hurt themselves or someone else! Thats why I asked here about this.

Congrats Dave (assuming you pulled the trigger).............I look for fun on CL from time to time and I don't know much but from what I have seen $3000 for that is a steal even though it needs a little work.

    I can't wait to drive it......

Ok all, I bought the IH 2400A tonight! $3000.00. we started it, the old girl fired right up, ran fine everything worked well, has a small leak in one of the rams but nothing major "I" saw and got the confirmation on hours. It was "not" 2600, as he originally thought but 4426 hrs. It's the D-179 engine, has brand new alternator, installed this spring and rebuilt starter 2017. It is a 1974 and I need to buy 2 "NEW" seats. :p I sat on a dam bolt through the wood. :( My @$$ hurts now... Ok, on a lighter note... I'm going over this weekend to monkey with it and get familiar more. So, more to come and more questions I'm sure.
The fella was nice enough to let me store it there, "indoors" till I get it to New Hampshire! I'm working on those arrangements as we speak. I hope this will give me at least a years worth of work, I realize it's old and will require stuff so I'm gonna budget for it.

Congratulations! I’m sure that will do everything you need and what a deal! When you’re done with it you’ll probably get your money back and then some if you fix her up just a little. Have fun!

That's what I'm hoping for. I do have some "BIG" fallen dead trees that I gotta move and clear, I just can't "grunt" them out!!! My ATV won't even move them I'm sure. I spent the money and I'm hoping this will pay off. I'm working on getting it up to NH after the holiday's!

I'm hoping also that one of the rear tires holds out. It has a few "DEEP" cut's in it and is pretty rough shape. I'll look for a used one on line or if worst comes, I'll buy a new one...
