Naw… that's just a pic of what you younger guys might look like! I have a much more "mature" physique! I guess you might call it "well rounded"!!!
Oops....too many laughing smileys once again...… I guess someone is gonna get another of my posts vaporized!
Miss July pulled a muscle one morning sitting on the edge of the bed stretching. I teased her about pulling her rolling-outta-bed muscle...
tim117 I failed to mention that associated with this back pain, I developed sciatica in both legs that will flare up sometimes from just sitting wrong. One leg is constant and the other leg is intermittent. Typical of crushed discs pressing against nerves and runs down to the heel of both sides at times!
Nothing wrong with a guy trying to get into his wife's pants. But when you have the goal of wearing your wifes pants in mind, well, that's a whole different thread....on a whole different site!!!
You want to get that taken care of. You crush those nerves long enough or severe enough and they die. Paralysis is the result. Not good.
Chiro saved me from the knife, twice now, once in the top of my back and then lower back. Took approx 15 or 20 sessions on the traction table each time. Also the stretches in the book that DaveGunter posted have really helped. I have done them every morning for at least ten years.
I have had back issues on/off for many years...some of it I attribute to extra strain on my lower back from being tall...and I thought the rest was from disc damage done while riding 3 wheelers with no suspension (and trying to keep up with ones that did!) when I was younger. It would always come and go, sometimes for seemingly no reason at all...I found that a prescription for muscle relaxers helped some when I had a flareup...some pain meds and flexural (SP?) and a good nights sleep often helped. But here a couple years ago I had a bout that went on for weeks, and it was bad! My wife finally talked me into going to see her PT peeps...best decision! I found out through this PT that I do not have a disc issue...it is mainly muscle pain from having improper lordosis of the lower back (not enough forward curvature) and it causes my core muscles to have to work all the time, even when standing straight up. That, and I have very poor flexibility in the lower spine...I cannot bend my spine backwards anywhere near the normal amount, according to the PT. They showed me exercises to do at home that help...and suggested that I need to do them everyday...which may or may not actually happen But in the year or so since I did PT, I have not had as much problem with it, and when I do, it seems to not last near as long because I now know the stretches and exercises that I need to do for my particular issue. I would recommend seeing a PT, even if it is just for a few visits, enough to be evaluated and shown some "custom" stretches/exercises...and PT is not nearly as expensive as seeing a doctor (at least for me it wasn't) so IMO it is a very good "investment"! And my experience with chiropractors has not been good...just FYI. The info on sleep and proper hydration is great info too...makes complete sense! I tend to not drink enough (even though I think I drink plenty) and I can tell when I need to hydrate more...for me the first sign is a headache...its actually about the only time that I get them...I will need to pay more attention this and see if that is when my back tends to act up too.
Well said. I could not agree more. I stumbled onto a stretching/exercise program years ago developed by a physical therapist/yoga cyclist. He created this program to strengthen your core and lower back for cycling. I have been using it for 11 years. It is the reason why I still can ride like I do now. If you don't use it, it WILL go away. Most people w/back pain could make it go away w/a few simple stretches everyday.
