CBD oil shows a lot of promise. Go to you tube and look it up. It is legal, it is a hemp product but not the same as THC.
I swear... gravity is getting out of control... ... ... m'ole back has me slowed down to about 30% these days. And that's sayin sumpthin cause I never was more than 50% to begin with...
I had an operation on my spleen In Sept of 1987, my surgeon told me after he repaired my spleen (was not removed) that I will most likely have back pain as I get older. And every year or so my back goes out and it just plain sucks. I always think maybe part of it is in my head due to my Surgeon telling me that?
Hopefully it's just muscular. I've had major sciatic issues for a long time but really exploded 2 Easters ago. I had a microdiskectomy on 5/4 and I'm trying to come back from it but it's slower than I had hoped. I'm trying pretty much everything.
Makes my back hurt just reading all these back pain stories. I had back pain after years of construction work. Heavy framing and concrete work. Did drugs and went to the chiropractor for years. Some times it helped, most times it was short lived. About 10yrs ago, I stumbled across a cycling program that emphasized strengthening the lower back for cycling. I have been doing the program ever since. I have some back pain now when I work it too hard, but for the most part I don't have back pain. Most back pain and especially sciatica is caused from weak lower back muscles, tight hamstrings and piriformis muscle pinching the sciatic nerve. I stretch everyday.....especially the piriformis. There are a number of ways to stretch the piriformis. I think the best is the pigeon pose stretch in yoga. After about 55yrs, it's not about vanity, it's about quality of life. I fight it everyday. I'll see you on the road.
Ended up with a shot of toradol today along with a couple scrips of meds. It was horrible this morning with no tolerance/relief for standing or sitting.
Got worse again yesterday evening. So far its a bit better today. Taking it easy seems to help the most at this point.
Very very good information here. I have seen many folks who have had back surgery, continue to have back problems. those who exercise and keep their weight is control do the best and recover the best. I would say that surgery is only the very last resort.
Yesterday, on my ride, I was thinking about cutting wood. The time we spend maintaining our cutting equipment. Truck, saw, splitter, etc. maintenance. Then, when we are done, we park it, clean it, put it back on the shelf....and it is ready to go the next time we need it. ...but, the most important piece of equipment we need for wood cutting needs maintenance everyday.
I've been talking to my doctor about an implant. I'm still not sold on the idea as it sounds much like the TENS unit. I wore one for those for quite some time but got only minimal results and finally just quit wearing it as it was more a pain in the butt than help. Party because there was always the thing hanging from the belt and also if you started to sweat, there went the contacts. No good at all when working or exercising. So this thing gets inserted right into the back along with a control unit that is places either high in the buttocks or stomach or somewhere and you have to charge it off and on (not sure how often or for how long) by placing a charger over the thing for a while. Evidently one can also adjust it themselves too. Probably like many things; it will work for some and not for others. So far I'm just sort of checking into it a little as I don't need it yet but might in the future. I've been able to go a bit over a week so far with no pain medication so that is positive. I did come close yesterday to taking something but held off. Not sure about today but so far, so good. If anyone wants to check into this, it is from Boston Scientific. On some info the doctor gave me it says they (or their Precision Spectra) were a winner of Popular Mechanics Breakthrough award, whatever that means. Boston Scientific 25155 Rye Canyon Loop Valencia, CA 91355 (Hum... Boston but yet in CA?) 866-360-4747 ControlYourPain.com A lady from the company did call me and we had a short chat. She said she would call back in a month to see how I am doing after getting the shots last week. I hope I can tell her I'm doing fantastic!
the nurse asked where my tens unit is? Right in the drawer next to the bed. A lot of good it does there, she responds. I told her that the desk drawer its in has not complained since I placed it there months ago! Didn't do a thing for me either; I asked if they wanted it back after using it short term....
