Yes I have. I love it. I was going to post it when I put my pics of my axe up. That place is about 30 minutes from me. Love hoe he lights his pile.
Many a good memories from winter Klondike and such events. I hope my boy will be interested. Hope everybody has a great time. Back to your regurly scheduled program...
As requested here are some pics of the E&S axe. As you can see it has been sharpened many times. It now lives it's life in the sugar shack as a light splitter.
Saw this story on a news magazine show a few days ago about a new "old" axe manufacturing company A Maine business formed over a glass of Scotch Brant & Cochran | Axes From Maine
If any of you come across an axe head made by Seward Foundry, I would love a chance to buy one. They were a founding family in my County, and had a reputation for building great axes. It is our bicentennial, and many descendants are still here. I would enjoy loaning it to our museum.
Is there a thread of wanted axes? Would be a good place to look for hard to find stuff? I'm looking for a few off ones...
Yardsale season has started up here It was beat on a bit so I gave it a quick cleanup It's a 2 1/4 lb Sandvik , I did get the wedge out but I don't think I'll reuse the haft because of splits at the eye , shame though , it was a fair haft .
I have a friend that has had an accident , I've sold a saw and sent the funds now I'm going to sell off a few ax heads , the first one is 3lb Hults Bruk just like this one , it's in good shape but not as much blue paint . If anyone is interested send me a pm , I'll ship anywhere .
I got this one for half price as it was a customer return at my local Lee Valley store , it's a nice splitter but the X25 will give it a run for it's money any day of the week at a much better price point. I'm not dissatisfied with it at all and what I paid for it , does feel better in the hands than the X25 but they must have taken out the magic pixie dust out of it to give me the discount lol
This is my main axe/wedge banger. Jersey head, make is unknown. Handle is from House Handle, 30 inch. Hung it myself. Watco Dark Walnut danish oil finish.
Looks great and nice set on the wedges. I like Danish oil, I never thought of using a tinted oil for a finish.
Made this axe up for my best friend for his birthday. Tru Temper head on a House Handle 30 inch. Watco oil finish. Wood burned him and his wife’s last name on one side and their initials on the other.
