Went on a small road trip today to get some axes and mauls. I mainly wanted the all metal mauls. I know the orange one is a vintage Sotz maul. I’m not sure what brand the red one is. It has a “12” on one side of the head for the weight, and a “US” and a “94” on the other side. I assume for the year of manufacture and for the USA. Anyone know for sure the brand or more info?

Also is the 10” or so section of the Sotz handle “pinched”/ovaled by design? Seems maybe there to prevent slippage

That is quite the haul. Almost all of them are mauls. Looks like some good stuff in there. I know I would have a field day with some of that. Congrats.

Thanks. There were also some other tools not pictured. A couple pitchforks, and hoes.

Nice score! But why do you need so many mauls or are you just into it as a collector?

I’m gonna keep a few, and restore the others to sell or give away as gifts

Not that you'd want to see. They're old, used and dirty
