Honestly, I think the other brands have surpassed Honda, and Honda's lack of reaction moves them back a bit. When the IRS and dct are added to the Hondas, then they cost more than the other brands. That really just puts them at the same level as the other brand, at higher cost. That to me seems a little odd.

I'd say when years ago ATVs first came out, that Honda was behind the ball. Suzuki was the first to make a 4wheeler the lt 230 I think was the first, while Honda was making 3 wheelers. We all know how the lawyers had fun with that. Yamaha was in that 3 wheeler craze too.

Kawasaki then took over as the best with the bayous. Honda finally got into the game with the fourtrax. At that time Polaris started making cvt ATVs. That was the next revolution. Can am ( which was called bombardier) entered the market too some time in there.

Yamaha kinda took the bull by the horns and married the cvt to the Japanese ATV. That's why the yamaha cvt is the best. That's also why the yamahas are probably the best ATV's now.

Great input here. I've definitely got my work cut out for me to figure out what would be best for me.

Yeah but don't over think it, (paralysis by analysis) decide what you think you want, watch for a good deal on something that fits the bill, buy it. If you don't like it, or want to upgrade later, sell it and buy another.
I guess I assumed from what you said about something to haul firewood with, that you were thinking a used one...which is what I always buy...so for me what I buy often depends what I find a deal on...within reason of course...my 2 cents.

Yes, paralysis by analysis is a real thing. As a Buyer as my profession, I'll tell you that you need to ready when the opportunity to get what you want happens. With the used market, c that saying even rings louder.

You assumed correctly. I'm looking to buy a workhorse. While I have no plans of unnecessarily abusing it I dont want to be overly concerned about a few dings and dents that may or may not happen.

That's true..the best deals are often gone in minutes to hours...pays to be ready to roll with cash in hand.
And when I said about if you don't like it you can sell it and buy another...I say that from the standpoint of doing so after getting a really good deal on whatever you buy...that way you can break even, or maybe even make a buck. Pretty easy to swap your ride out if you roll like that. Not so much if buying new though...again, just my 2 cents on it all...

Good man...I think you will be able to fill the bill pretty easily and cheaply if you are patient and diligent about watching FB MP, CL, etc...for some reason FB MP brings up stuff in western PA for me sometimes...and it looks like the deals are the best on your side of the state line!
