I'd be sending the insurance company a nastygram Today!
I know that's not in your nature, but sometimes you just gotta play hardball.

Oh I did before this weather started and was forecasted. He commented that they were delayed by Holiday (Christmas) I explained that this had been going on for 4 holidays Halloween, Veterans day, Thanksgiving and now Christmas! I got approval today to remove bookcase and insulate:headbang:. He advised me to temporarily insulate. How do you remove a bookcase sheet rock and temporarily insulate.:picard:

You will have to wait for a pic as I am at work, but they look like this:

Broan 180 CFM Room-to-Room Exhaust Fan-511 - The Home Depot

The stove room is on the main floor of the house and has a pitched ceiling with no second floor above it. Above the stove in the peak area there is a soffet box that the chimney passes through and that the back of the fans are hidden in. Warm air enters through a slit along the bottom and gets blown into the two bedrooms the share wall space with the soffet box.

I run my stove to the max on days like this to try to get more heat on the main level, because this cape cod style house has little insulation in the 2nd floor and roof.

Heating from the basement is tough. The stove room can be 80-85° and it only gets to about 65-68 on the first floor. I keep the second floor closed off, it's almost impossible to heat.

I think this depends on the size of the stove. My 13NC is not a deep stove; think 1/2 the depth of the 30NC, so the path for the exhaust isn't as far.................so my pipe temps will run slightly above STT when starting out to about 100-150* below STT when cruising.

You people are certifiable nuts! Me, I worry when my stovetop temp is ambient room temp. At 7df outside if I don’t act fast the Mrs and I will be flash-froze before you say Happy New Year.

    Scary stuff people!

Here are pictures of the soffet and one of the bedroom fans. First shows the soffet, the secon is a close up of the slit along the edge where it sucks air in. The fan pic is obvious.

It's 1:50pm on Saturday afternoon; and it's currently 0*F and very windy at my place 5 miles South of the cheddar curtain.

This is a picture of the thermometer during the current load in my 13NC......................I have 3 ash splits in the stove...................yeah, just 3......................my STT is just under 700*F and you can also see in the picture that my draft lever is (below the ash lip) is darn near shoved all the way in. This is normal with this stove in these conditions. IMG_1367.jpg

To be honest, I don't really even look at the thermometer any more. I know how the stove runs and just let it do it's thing. I obviously do the adjustments, but that's it.
    Nothing glows.
