Only had very few meals of it as a kid and it was canned. Started eating it fresh as an older adult and I really like it. I would love to grow it but not the right soil or climate or room.

Grandfather had a truck garden-the was still a patch around when I was a kid. Grandma would fix it for us-loved it then and still do.

Loved it as a kid and still do. But now eating it in ways other than boiled. Grilled is good. Raw added to a salad is also good. Also good added to soups.

Hated it as a kid, but was required to eat it, love it as an adult.

There was an "asparagus incident" as a a kid. My folks had a big patch. We were taking an extended family vacation during asparagus season. My best friend, Charlie, the neighbor kid was hired to look after the house and animals while we were gone. My Mother gave him specific instructions on how to pick the asparagus, she said he could have it for his family, she just didn't want the patch to go to seed. I mentioned to Charlie that I hated the stuff, so he very conveniently forgot to pick the crop. When we got back my Mother had a chat with Charlie. In addition to some corrective action I received from my Mother, she told Charlie that had he taken care of the asparagus she would have given him a $20 bonus. Charlie and I were friends till the day my family moved from the area, but he never let me forget that.

I didn't like it as a kid. My mom would steam it into oblivion and it would just be mush.

I love it now that I've learned the right ways to cook it. Toss with some olive oil, add some salt and pepper. If its grilling weather, grill it, if its not, put them on a baking sheet and roast in the oven at 400 - 425.

Young thin stalks taste better than the tough thick ones. Only vegetable I never liked is lima beans.

I've always loved asparagus. As a matter of fact, in a bit pizzed that I have not planned some on my land here. We've owned this house since 2008. There's no excuse, but that I don't have it planted. Grrr.

    May have to change that.

I hated even the thought of eating it as a kid, but we've now had a small bed for over 20 years, roughly 6' x 10' that mainly keeps the wife in summer supply. I sneak a few when she's not looking, find it tolerable with the aforementioned olive oil and other condiments. Actually, it needs to be rejuvenated as it is noticeably thinning....what would be a good suggestion ?? Start all over?

I'm gonna try basod's idea of tossing it on the grill. Never tried it that way.
