    No snow , leave ashes in bucket outside on the ground for a couple days and throw it in the woods .
    Snow on the ground, throw it in the woods right outa the stove

    I have to metal grain buckets, I think, that are about 10 gallon each. When both are full I dump the first for the trash man so I can fill it up again and repeat. I'm pretty sure they are cool and dead after a couple of weeks sitting. With lots of snow I may throw them around the yard once or twice.

    It is usually called a poor man's lime.
