If infected with the emerald ash borer, your tree will begin to die from the top down. The crown will start losing leaves and then it will spread downward. Depending on the size of the tree it could take 3+ years to kill it. Once you see damage it's too late to save the tree and you may as well cut it down.

How can you tell the difference between white and green ash bark? Black is flaky checkered..

I have white Ash that dies occasionally I've taken two recently. A few more are on the way. One covered in vines killing it. The other only has a few branches on top? I've seen no trace of eab yet.....I do see traps along the road for them.

Can't say for certain because we have only white ash here. I've never seen them side by side.

Talking with my state park manager buddy and they still have people hauling in infected firewood! Gets burnt immediately...not sure about any fines.

EAB galleries right under the bark look like this:

The coin in the photo is a 1p coin from the US. With as much as the trails of the EAB overlap each other you can understand that it will completely interrupt the ability of the tree to move fluids.

Yeah... Tops are all looking good. Branches die off now, and then. But that's normal, as far a I know.
