Faster faster!!! I walked my hedgerow the other morning and flagged all the good trees and this winter am going to take out all the dead ash. It’s sad I think I only flagged 5 trees, and they were maples.

Split some of that ash that i took pictures of before, it looks like its eaten up inside by some kind of a bug/worm.

    Blue stain inside?
    Lower towards the trunk?
If so too much water. It's sitting in water and the roots can't breathe. That would also cause the decay in the trunk.

That could be a possibility, its in a little bit of a low spot, and if there's enough rain, a small creek will form and cut across her property. At this time, there is no standing water, i don't know about the past years. But, right now, its totally dry. Yes, this was lower toward the trunk.

I see the heart rot a lot in red maples. The first time when felling was a real eye opener.
