Just a couple quick pictures from the weekend. Milled a large ash I had sitting in the pile this weekend, Ended up with 13 boards 1 x 12 ( plus ) x 6 feet. I had to chainsaw mill the first piece off the outside in order to get it on my mill , poor little tractor would only lift it 6 inches off the ground. I used a so-so piece of Hemlock for the blocks to support the bench. I was only going to make one for a friend who has been giving me some logs but ended up doing two. One for him and one for home. Quick and easy project. Also kind of sort the saw picture was a little funny with the 661 there from milling and the 170 from cutting stickers and board ends.
That came out nice! Always neat to see whats inside! Too bad the cedar i get isnt bigger. Be pretty sweet looking in cedar. Wonder if black locust is worth more as benches that size?
Thanks , not sure that is where it is going to stay. It might go out by the fire-pit. The jury is still out on that.
Looks great ! Too bad most of the Ash is turning to powder....its one of the most beautiful wood in my opinion.
