That also tells me that the charging system on the magnum 18 is good as well.

This weekend is probably the weekend where I find out if there are any differences between the output shafts of the kt17 in the ariens and the magnum 18 in the crapsman.

My buddy asked me if i was going to sell the crapsman frame/ chassis after we pull the engine. I told him yeah, to the recycler...

To be honest, I might make a trailer out of it. Depending on how difficult it will be.

I am backwards on this on the ariens. The flywheel side runs the " rock shaft" as it's called. That rock shaft runs the transmission and rear hydraulics. The front of the engine has the engine out put shaft that runs the electric clutch for the front and center pto. The magnum in the crapsman it's the opposite. The output shaft is facing the rear and the electric clutch for the front center drive pulleys is in front. No biggie. It's just oriented 180° different than the ariens it will go into.

Still looking to find the length of the shaft in the kt17 compared to the magnum 18. But everything I can find says they are both 1-1/8" diameter output shafts.

At least the engines all rotate the same direction. In my younger years I was given an engine to put in a pickup. After all was done the truck only had one forward gear but three reverse. Later found out that it came from a boat.

From a ski nautique, or correct craft as they were called until the middle 90's? 351w? CC's are the one you can't just put a regular automotive cam in due to reverse rotation.

Somehow it wound up in my daughter's Blazer.

    Weirder stuff has happened. :)

What is the shaft size on that one, out of curiosity?

I was thinking the same thing. At least the Kohler engine would still be running 20+ years later.

    Lol

Interesting. I should know more Saturday as to the shaft size in the m18 in the crapsman, in comparison to the kt17's in the ariens.

    That's an odd size, no?
    Metric maybe...almost exactly 36.5 mm

1 7/16" kind of a so so size. Not the most common but still a catalog size.

Fingers crossed... I've got so many things to do, so if I can get "lucky" on this, my list will be much shorter.
