I only have 83726263! But man I understand! Sounds bad but its my way of trying to keep wood off the ground simce I have no woods to speak of.
Yeah, it's very simple. 20% and under and you're golden. I know the Ryobi one I have had a different color of the text when 20% or under. It's red text when it's over 20%.
I looked up the popular ryobi pinless moisture meter one on home depot.com and the reviews for it are garbage...same with the ryobi one that goes through your phone, garbage reviews.
It was just like that. There's different settings. When set to firewood settings ( beech, pine, oak, hardwood, may be others) then it just does it that way. I've never used the lumber, or drywall or other non firewood settings yet. But I imagine those are different settings and don't colors.
Lol. Read my review. It's not on home Depot or anything. Most rated reviews are just people wanting to complain about stuff they don't understand, or didn't read the manual. So they complain in the form of a passive aggressive hide behind their computer review. Take my word for it. The phoneworx one works great. There's no other MM out there that can do what it can. The price point is unmatched as well.
really? The ryobi ES3000 is the one your talking about? Reviews say it don't connect easily or work easily....It is cheap $20
Yes really. The one I linked before. I just read a few reviews at the home Depot. The people that rated it one star couldn't figure out how to use it. Sort by ratings and you'll find that the people that rate it 5 stars ( I may have written one of them, I don't recall) understand how to set it up, and use it. Yes, you have to set up a ryobi account, and yes, your phone needs to be compatible, but once that's done, it works great. It's compatible with pretty much any Android or iOS. So if you have a Windows phone, it probably won't work. So no, you just can't take it out of the package and use it. There's a little set up, but as I mentioned, it's capabilities are unmatched by the other options. There are simple open the box and go options, but I prefer the better capabilities. Mine's still on the original battery, about 2 or more years on it. I don't recall. It's just been really easy and reliable.
No, I use tarps for the seasoned wood I will use this winter but during the drying process I do not top cover what so ever.
Just plain old construction (pine) lumber that drys out after it gets wet, will last for a long time before any rotting. Wood rots in a house because it gets wet ( such as rain leaking in) and never gets a chance to dry out.
These threads are a lot of fun to say the least. I have some one year old Bur Oak (dead when cut) that is at 15% and burns great.
Granted I am in a different climate than out east, we have NEVER had wood go bad, EVER. The only time I've seen rotting wood is in the high country (like 8000' + ) that had been sitting under a canopy of evergreen for years and years. Also Nicholas62388 , I never heard of a moisture meter until a couple years ago. I could tell by the weight of a split when I picked it up, no worries if your smoke is blowing clean
