Regular generators are ac and are already a sine wave like utility power....just not as clean but should not hurt anything you own unless it runs out if gas then the possibility increases.

"Pure" sine wave is terminology used when discussing inverters going from dc to ac to distinguish themselves from the modified inverters which are not like what comes from utility.

Most electronics nowadays can deal with any incoming power from 50-60 hz and 100-240 volts....check the power supply for your tv for instance.

I wouldn't worry at all about running a regular genny

They say they are. The one I won on an auction (FeeBay), and was just over $100. Its the same as this model here, but branded by Duracell (this same unit has like 3 or 4 different names and colors).

The other was a little more expensive. But reads the same

FYI ETQ is out of business. Same brand as my inverter....was also the same as Generac and Honeywell I believe. Like Dex said they go under a few different names. I can say that my Etq inverter is dead on at 60 hertz and 121 volts. Good unit for the money....only issue was the economy mode button was reversed....silly Chinese

fyi i think you'll find yourself hard pressed running a fridge on a 900/1k genny . buy yourself a kill-a-watt like $25 at hd and check the spike at compressor start-up . :)

In addition to Woody's comment it is not recommended to run inverter generators near their max rating.....the inverter modules get hot and it can lead to premature failure...ideally you only use 50% or less so I am told

Well if that's the case, I guess I have nothing to worry about. Except my 2500 watt drinks gas like I drink beer. Vast quantities.

EDIT: Erased my comment...missed the post about him mentioning his Honda 2500..whoops

subsailor for comparison my Champion 3500 watt regular generator uses 4 gallon in 12 hours at 50% load

regardless of what ihp says , ac out of a motor connected to an alternator (your basic non-inverter genny ) is NOT the same as the ac from a true sine wave inverter genny . period .
