Picked up a few bags of these on the way home, for testing. When I paid for them, I was under the impression I was buying the softwood variety. Now I'm not sure what I got. The bags look different than what Russell picked up, I think these are old stock. The pellets inside are two different colors, some light, some dark. Maybe the dark ones are made from DF fiber? HA HA. Seriously, what's the scoop?

Yes those are the bags they used last year . The new bag is not see through and very thick , also the pellets are much smaller and lighter . I was very happy with the way they burned last year and there was mention of DF in the blend . Still only running the stove on low so not sure what the heat output is yet on this years offerings .

Thanks for the info. Not sure when I will get to these, but will post some feedback whenever they go in the hopper.

Anyone burning Cubex ? One of my local dealers is now carrying them but there is some mention of a plastic odor on some reviews I've seen .

It's generally a well respected brand. One of the higher end hardwoods available around here. It's the same a Comfort and Northern. All 3 brands have been pretty well priced this year, much lower than prior years, probably due to some excess inventory to move. If the price is right near you, I think you would do well to try a few bags and see if your stove likes them.

My stove doesn't like them at all. I'd rather burn MWP or Nature's Own.

I'm hoping they are similar to Somersets which I tried last year and was impressed . Unfortunately I can't get them unless I want to drive an hour away . :tractor:

I got 15 bags of Cubex from an individual at the end of last season and was very, very happy with them. Both stoves loved them and they were the hottest I have burned in the P43 (which I set up an oven thermometer just above the door to measure air stream temp). They smelled awesome too. Ooohhh, I just went down and smelled the one bag I have left (I didn't want to waste them on spring weather) - and yeah, they smell as good as I remember :dex:

Here's my scoop on Cubex . Heat very good 405 front glass and 290 vents on med , ash lite and fluffy salt and pepper color . Pellet very durable with little fines in bag , sweet smell which some may interpret as a plastic odor , I like it myself. The flame is more white than orange in color so very similar to Somerset's but I would say Somerset's produce less ash . Price $ 6 a bag $ 289 a ton, also I like the new 22 lb bag idea for a quick and easy reload of the hopper **** and a half stars .

Any feedback to post on the EasyBlaze? I was over in Seekonk TWICE, this weekend and would have grabbed some of those Platinums to try.... damm! So many pellets, so little time.

I can tell you Will and I just split a ton of EB blend that was bought in the Spring and they are burning excellent. Very low ash, glass stays clean, etc. When I tested these last season had the same results. Buy a few to try!
