Tennis ball cannons??? I remember a summer when all my buddies in the neighborhood had one and we shot them at each other (not up close) but I don't remember anyone ever getting hit. I'm sure my parents would have been mortified with me running all over with lighter fluid and and a zippo...

I remember seeing a push button phone for the first time. I also remember being blown away when my friend heated up a tortilla in a microwave. It took 10-15 seconds are you kidding me? :bug: My folks were always the last to get the new stuff.

Sounds like my childhood. I did yard cleanup and lawn mowing to earn enough to eventually piece together a bmx bike. In the 70's it started out with converted Schwinns. Add bmx handlebar and gooseneck, Eventually I bought a BMX frame, then Skyway tuffs, one at a time. Definitely not the coolest kid. We also did the trip to the convenience store pretty much every day in the summer. We always managed to find each other. I can't imagine kids today forming the same bonds while gaming with each other online.

I remember we were riding home from the convenience store and my mom and my friends mom were outside talking. My friends mom asked my friend. "How did you like that Charlston Chew?" Couldn't get away with anything for very long.

Lack of what I remember as a childhood is one of the sadder things about the new gens. They don't even realize that they don't have it. Wild.

(at least the intel was all 'hearsay' when there weren't 40 billion cameras around)

My parents were poor. I can still hear the doctors getting frustrated with them and almost hollering for them to, "Get that boy a bike!" The reason was I had polio and was crippled for a while. I eventually got that bike. It took me a long time to learn how to ride but eventually I mastered it. Eventually I started riding big miles. That did not stop until just a few years ago. My son recently moved back here and has a bike. I could not help myself for wanting to ride it, but found I can't. Bummer.

Good ole Charelston Chew....near daily trips to the party store for those as well. If mom didn't give me $, we would walk the creek bank and find enough cans to return to swap for the candy bar. Only needed 5 cans back then!

I know with my sons a significant portion of their socialization is online now. It sure is different. We had to find our friends and we hung out together and did things together.

It didn't hurt that they were the biggest candy bar and not the most expensive. Felt like you were getting your moneys worth!

Many candy bars came in 2 sizes. Small one for a nickel and a large one for a dime.:BrianK::BrianK:

I used to like those 3 cent chocolate bars. I thought they were better than Hershey's.

Here's one for the "remember this crowd"

It has been longer than 50-60 years since I first heard of a vehicles windows shattering due to heat.

Well, I spoke with someone that had it happen to them recently. Rear window; tempered of course.
