I came across this picture. It is the same car Judy and I had when we got married. A story goes with it too. I was working long hours so one day (before we got married) she told me she was going to town on a Friday with her mother. So I gave her $150; all I had at the time. I also clipped some ads from a paper and told her to check out a couple of cars. If she liked one and had enough cash, then buy it. She did. When I got home we took it for a drive and I liked it too. So I asked her if they accepted the $150. She said no, then dug into her purse and handed me $60. She had got them to come down in price after she told them we were getting marries and that was all the money we had right then (we never considered borrowing money). So they sold it to her for $90.00. Great! That car kept us going for several years.

Over the years, two different buddies had that car also; but paid a tad bit more for them.

Regarding the soda pop machine, nothing complicated about it at all.

A "resourceful" young man would carry a bottle opener and straw with him and drink his fill without having to pay the abhorrent rate of 10 cents per bottle!

There's an A&W 1/2 mile from my house. Still had the car hops. It closed for the season in October 2024. From what I hear the owner died in the winter and it hasn't reopened yet. Don't know what's going on with it. There's another one about ten miles away that the brother of the one near me owns thats still open

Is that the car in the picture where Judy is standing by the drivers door in her first maternity shirt?

This is the car we had before that other one. That was a Ford Fairlane 500. I also goofed. That was her second pregnancy rather than the first.
