I'm hoping to get by w/ 1.5 or 2 tons this year and burn cedar in my wood stove. I'm still burning a bag of Bear Mountains but this week is supposed to drop in the low 40s at night... and that's when I'll have my pellet stove on. I suspect I'll go through at least another bag before weekend. Suppose to warm up a wee bit by then.
Just put bag #4 in last night. Still probably had 1/3 of a bag in the hopper. It has been dark, rainy and cool (lows in 40's, highs in 50's) the last several days (and a lot of last week too). Had the P43 going for about 3 weeks now, so the stove hasn't run all that much.
Got home from work today, and it was 84 degrees in the house. Still no burning and no end in sight to the warm weather. Highs in the 70's and 80's through the end of next week.
It seems I'm burning every day. Nights are dropping into the low 40s. I'm not burning a lot... but I'm burning.
It's 1:48 a.m. and it's 75 degrees in my house. I had a small fire tonight and then threw on an extra log. Ugh. Not too bright. Currently at 52F outdoors.
I have burned a couple of bags of late... I never burned pellets before, but we just moved into our Tiny House on Sunday Night and found out on Saturday that the Propane Heater we had slated for it had a bad igniter. We had a pellet stove kicking around that we were not using, so we dug it out from the back of the woodworking shop and hooked it up. Total cost: $0.00! I like it, except for buying pellets, but I am hopeful that it can heat this place. At 31 degrees (f) it heated the main floor to 77 degrees and the 2nd floor to 71 degrees (f) on its lowest setting. Can it keep the house warm though when it is -20 below (f) though on its highest setting? That is the question. It seems promising... 38,000 BTU heater for a 1100 sq foot, 2 story home (r-19 walls/R-49 ceiling) ?????????????????????
One more day in the 80's here, then the temps are falling sharply. Will probably start burning soon. Haven't even unplugged the exhaust yet...
usually start 1st burn around mid-October... temps dropping into over nite 40's this weekend so looks like on schedule.. maybe.....
Everything is on schedule here. We typically get good weather in September, then in early October get a week of super cold weather, followed by a week of warm weather, then back into the cold weather again. We are setting up for all that.
Burned 1 bag in September and zip-zing-nadda for October yet......... Yesterday was 84*F and muggy. Should of left the A/C's in...........................
A couple of full nights so far but mostly early morning just to keep things dry . AcordAcco to the weather I think she'll be running low and slow for awhile .
Just picked up the third ton of LaCretes and will stack them shortly. Actually, the seller had an extra ten bags but said to take them and didn’t charge anything for them. Haven’t burned LaCretes before so I’m now waiting for the temps to dip.
