Good to have you here LCBug Always nice to have another hoarder from WI. Where do you call home in the badger state?
If you drive northwest of GB it'll only be a bad dream by the time you arrive here, 2 1/2 hours or so. Thanks for the welcome. After lurking here for about 3 years it was time to join.
No dogs here, got real tired of taking care of our sleddog kennel without any of the fun. Mr. Kitty loves walks in the woods so he's my wood hunting partner. Our poplar doesn't stink as far as I can tell (allergies and the fact most of my outdoors clothes smell like barn). Could balm be cottonwood?
If you dont mind wading through the mindless banter , there is a lot to learn. I thought i knew a lot about wood when i joined.
Does the wood have the fuzzies on the cut end/bark? Had a logger (friend and neighbor) come in and take some out next to my barn so there's the next few years of kindling. Lighter than a popcorn fart when it's dry.
Actually I'm more north than west, almost a Yooper since I can hear the shooting when deer season starts. Hodag country has too many people for me. The mindless banter (hate to call it that, more that it's entertaining) is part of the reason I'm here plus all the knowledge from those more experienced than me. Most of the stacks here put me to shame but I'm trying! Because of you people here I took my Christmas money and bought an X25 and it's fantastic. Looking forward to learning a lot more. Thanks everyone!
