there's not......but I don't know what their "usual" price is for those products.....if its in New England, pellets at $200/ton are WELL below cost

I've seen sales like this before and its usually damaged goods caused by freight or shipping hazzards . What has been damaged has been removed and the remaining have been restacked on pallets and rewrapped. Could be some other reasons this year with stuff not rolling, They might just be selling of some last season stuff that hasn't moved fast enough?

Actually, no one knows what these things actially are.

I think they probably got a great deal from some supplier and are trying to move them quickly. They had done this before in the past But the brand escapes me. ttdberg probably can recall what the situation was better than me.
Lousyweather do you ever get offers to move stuff that is not your normal product?

Very similar to what we are seeing this season. Extremely warm and cheap oil prices IIRC.

Could just be they want to liquidate abundant stocks??

well, I do kinda know what this stuff costs, its what I do, but I don't know what that particular retailer normally sells at....nor do I know what pellet it is, so too many unknowns really to venture a guess there.

We often get calls from outfits looking to move product which we sell, or even stuff we don't normally sell. This time of year its pretty rare though. This year we are a bit trepidatious in bringing on any unknown (to us) pellets. We have enough product to hopefully get us through the worst of the winter this year, if it ever comes. With about half of the product under roof, even if we still have some, it really shouldn't be an issue. As of yet, have not had any distributors calling offering "great deals" at this point, just some minor offerings and nowhere near the discount we would need to take a position of what seems to me to be considerable risk at this point.

maybe, but I think its premature at this point to liquidate product at a loss.

illogical as well, the product isn't perishable if handled properly.

Too early, Maybe. I wouldn't expect the sales to happen until late February early March. But I didn't mention one factor we didn't have in 2012. Many pulled in loads of extra stuff anticipating another cold season as the previous 2. The previous 2 were also pellet crunch seasons that left many with missed sales due to lack of supplies. So many loaded up to the gills expecting gang buster purchases.

Could just be they overloaded the yard and can't move with all the excess. So they want to move some quick like. IDK really just guessing and hopefully tt can get some answers on why the crazy deal is happening so early.

Did we ever ask them back then why so cheap? Curious and would expect similar circumstances to this sale?

This is a good year for pellets for me. I don't have room for them so I just buy 10 to 15 bags at a time. I am hopping to be better off next year. So much stuff to thin out yet. I added 240 sq feet, but that is filled also. I think we will parting out more stuff before I add on again.
I normally to have 6 tons ahead. The downside of that was having my stash raided by my kids.
