Up here, any SMALL price concessions from the distributors or mills have been, well, too small to induce retailers to stock up at this point....unless the retailer has no inventory, of course! Good luck on the sale tho!
Sale back on. Prices did drop besides the sale. Either they are in trouble orprices are really going down.
Just checked out there site,Holy crap 269.00 for Platinums,279.00 for Orford softies.Blazers 309.00,not to shabby. And people are paying 350.00 for Green Team at Lowes.
Preface, cordwood man here..... If the savings are deep enough would it be worth renting a big Rider truck and buying like 10T, if you know enough pigs near you it might equate to savings. Never know, they might discount even further if you buy in bulk like this?
Wow, i dont burn pellets but ive been looking when i see them, those prices seem pretty awesome for high end pellets. Those prices match the Lowes near me for their junk pellets.
It's 116 miles one way, so x2 = 232. . I rented a van one time that was $19 for the day - but then they hit you for mileage charge at something like $0.69/mile, plus you gotta fill the tank. Made a $20 rental into a $100 rental (it was worth it - but I didn't even put on 100 miles). If I shared with the 2 others "in my area" - that is another 120-150 miles - and they are pretty well stocked up anyway. I just want to try some of the stuff; I'm sitting on 3.5 tons and can pick up FSU's at <$5/bag, but want to at least see/try some premium stuff once in my life. And, for just trying, there is a place 60 miles away from me that I can get some of that stuff for reasonable prices (or so I hear) - I'm just to cheap to burn the gas to get there
I don't think you can get a rental truck that big.. Most of the bigger ones have a max around 5 tons. Plus they are box trucks.. not good. Dan
But if you picked up bobdog on the way, went to his Home Depot, stole a pallet jack, put it on the box truck just behind the last pallet of pellets that go on, you would be able to use a fork lift. See? It's easy....
Then by all means.... go for it. Do they also let you use the forklift and the pallet jack, or will you have to walk each bag down a ramp? If you and your friend got 10 tons, (2 trips) that would only be 1,000 trips on the ramp... Personally... I think it's a PITA. And we refuse to take deliveries in box trailers. And we have pallet jacks, and forklift. Dan
No offense here..... This discussion clearly defines the difference between pellet guys and cordwood guys. Pellets peeps like to not have any work or dirt, Cordwood peeps labor limit varies from moderate to high(weather you buy the wood or process from a tree to a split) and theres now way to get around the dirt. The 1000 trips thing wouldnt bother me if the deal was good enough, id ask a buddy for help and have some beer ready for when we were done......
