Here I find myself on the wierd side of FHC again.... Can't you guys just talk about beer or something?
Similar in Michigan. We have 'da yoopers' (upper peninsula residents) and the 'trolls', who is anyone who lives 'below the bridge' in the lower peninsula. Fudgies is the term for any tourists in far northern Michigan, usually with the intent to go to Mackinac Island and bring back a load of fudge. I didn't know about the 'fudgie' term until I got called that by a local the first time I mispronounced Presque Isle after buying land up there. It's pronounced Presque EEL, not Presque AISLE. Then there is Detroit. Nuff said.
Don't think we're not segregated here in NY either. There's Western NY, Northern NY, Central NY, Downstate/Upstate, NYC and of course "Lawn guy-land". Hell, where I live, you have to specify which county you live in like its some kind of dammed status symbol.
In NY the segregation is encouraged. It is politically advantageous to the power structure to geographically, and in the case of upstate downstate culturally, create it. All one needs due is examine the recent "Hunger Games" of competition for regional dole or the equally appalling gaming license competition. Course NY is so dysfunctional that the State manages to "lose" money on the number rackets that made the mob wealthy.
Beats me. I've often wondered if someone had too much to drink back in the 1800s, mispronounced it and it stuck. Even the news people pronounce it that way. I was corrected pretty quickly the first time I pronounced it like I thought it should be pronounced. It took me long enough to be able to pronounce 'Ocqueoc' properly (ahh-key-ock), then I found out I didn't even have the county name right. It's definitely not consistent. Isle Royale in Lake Superior is pronounced 'Aisle Royal', not 'Eel Roy-Al'.
Picked up a mix of different beers for our "family holiday party" decided to try some Tim Smith for a change. Mmm mm good.
After doing the Leaf Blower Trick the Orfords are burning much better. No build up and the ash level is low. There was a LOT of ash in the vertical section of pipe on the Englander. This is a bit new to me since the West Point is only a horizontal install. As far as I can tell if given the choice the short horizontal install is way preferable to the vertical.
I heard a local pellet dealer in Eastern Pa is having a New Year's sale and giving away a couple skids as well. Up to $15 off per skid of the good stuff. Sorry for the shameless plug. My wife made me do it. We're starting to see some manufacturers offer better pricing to offload some of their inventory. Even manufacturers that we don't normally deal with have been calling. This warm stretch has definitely impacted the market in our neck of the woods.
You know we'll be getting calls by day's end asking if we deliver for free up there. Thanks a lot. Have safe New Year.
Funny, in my neck of the woods, pellets have gone up in price @ some dealers. very cold out here in the western half of the states. Believe me we are trying to send it east, but it just keeps hanging around.
