I have several tanks upstairs in the garage. I once had the fish itch really bad. Spent hundreds on them. Had some Discus fish that were hard to keep alive. I was breeding angel fish for a while. Also some cichlids. Never did salt water. Now only a hex tank set up for the grand kids. Most of the time, my fish got too big and I had to take them to the pet store and give them away. I can't believe how much money I invested and now have just a collection of empty tanks to show for it. I'm sticking to the dogs and cats for my pet entertainment.
X2 on all the above, except mine were in my house. Gave 1/2 the tanks away to a local gal after I became ill, and the same gal gave a good home to most my numerous houseplants too....... drained the rest, gave them away too, gave the fish to my favorite fish store that bought my fry. I won't do discus or salt again (too much work for me at this point), but I have the fish itch again. I have struggled with raising the humidity here with 2, yes, TWO whole house humidifiers, so I am going to ride with the aq instead. The aq is easier for me than filling the humidifiers constantly and we get some enjoyment too! For now, after overthinking it, I decided to go with tetras in a 55gal, humidity for my nose/sinuses, and some entertainment for lil one
Wooops, most my fish died over the last day. I misread the directions on the beneficial bacteria bottle. Ya Ya, I already know I need eye glasses. Well, stuff happens like unexpected snow storms. I thought I should test test the water yesterday but both WWW and I have a wicked cold/ virus/bug junk and I did not get the water parameter tests done. Guess that'l teach me huh!! Most parameters were normal but nitrites were high when I finally tested today. I was hoping the BB in the canister could handle the load and it did for a week+. Turns out I was dosing at 1/4 that was needed. So I got the nano aq up and running today, transferred the remaining 6 live fish to it and they seem to be happy tonight. After a bad floater dead check this morning I hope tomorrow morning is better. I am starting to wonder now, after a snowstorm that delayed delivery (cold temps and heat pack ran out), then some of them iched out before I ever got them if this is doomed. Anyway, 6 of the order seem to like the new tank. (dechlored, salted, BB'd and acclimated). Thoughts?
They just don't know who they're dealing with! Either that or they never heard of anyone heating their aquarium water with a wood stove!
I do not believe this is happening again. 2-3 day priority ship for Wed or Thurs delivery turns into Sat. The only Sat in April with 2' snow storm. I want to know why it went to California instead of Colorado? Live fish in the package of course.
Hi, yes, they are insured, I have no doubt the guy I bought from will get reimbursed for the claim he will file with USPS. I just feel bad for the poor fish. Von Rio tetras, threatened breed.
Yea.....I am basically in analysis paralysis between Class N Endlers and Celestial Pearl Danios! So wishy washy! CPD's aren't super common, and the Endlers quite possibly extinct in their natural habitat due to pollution, etc.....sad
UNBELIEVABLE, most the fish survived!! WWW went to town this morning on terrible roads, normally an hour round trip took him over 2 hours today, gotta love that guy!! A hillside loach expired and a couple of the Von Rio's are struggling, but I am still in awe. They have been in poly bags inside a box since monday, went from FL to CA, back to CO then Wyoming. 72 hour heat pack far expired, and poly (not breather bags). I did an extra long acclimation earlier, they are now coloring up and finding eachother (schooling) and actually ate too!!
