I am thinking flat rocks, clay pots with bottom broken out, and......petrified wood. Water we buy here is pretty soft, and I have the RO if needed. I am smitten with mithesaint suggestions. Except I think I will go with one of each, not sure if I could stand it if some of the paired off.....and I am not able nor equipped to do that again.

Which part? (it was a long post, sorry :emb: )
The tank is moved, and there it will stay for quite some time... at least until I am done with home renovations to the old half of my house working on insulating and refinishing the upstairs (cape cod style) and the laundry room. I've been at it since last spring. I'm guessing it is going to take until this coming spring, and even then I'm not sure if I'll be done with the finishing parts. But I'll be happy to get the insulation all done and washer and drier hooked up... I've been having to do my laundry at the ex's. Moving the tank was part of my new stove install, and that postponed the renovations for a good month or so here recently (took a while since it did it all myself without any help unfortunately). But at least I got the stove install wrapped up and its burning great!

I miss the heck out of aquariums.

They are so relaxing and are great stress relievers.

For about 6 years, we were breeding african cichlids. had about 14 different species going.
Around 143-146 aquariums, ranging from 2.5 gallons to 220 gallons.

Ive got a few pictures still from over quite some time ago.
My last tank was a180 gallon, freshwater planted tank.
It was simply too much work.. I ended up selling it.

working on finding a 220 or a 240 gallon tank now.

I'll have to get a few pictures uploaded sometime soon.

I'll try and get these uploaded over time from oldest to newest.
I dont have too many pictures anymore.
Basically only have pictures of my most missed/most Favorited setups.

That above is a 125G in the basement at a townhouse we were renting about 7 years ago.
It was our first tank larger then a 90 gallon.
I built the stand in the basement, finished basement at that.
Ended up getting over spray all over the place.
I had 2x4's laying on the floor and they were outlined on the tan carpet when it was all said and done.
What a nitemare.. i'll never forget that. lol It was a good laugh later on.

This is my easily, most missed, most Favorited work of art.
Was a 90G AGA aquarium, i hand made the stand. Sanded it, stained it, all that when i was 15 years old.
At the time of this picture, this is on the first floor of our townhouse in our dining room.

I should of never parted ways with this.

I visited a friend of mine last Saturday.

Here's his 300 gallon deep dimensions marineland saltwater reef tank. Some of those coral colonies are big, but the tank is so huge that they don't look that big. He's got a couple other tanks in his house, not including the sumps and quarantine tanks. IMG_20160109_211006478.jpg

I thought i had some pictures of a few "nests" but i do not.
I never had too many issues at all with them doing what they do, within the tank with other tank mates.
The problem i always had, was that the male would clean house and eat all of the eggs.

This is the last, newer picture i have of the setup before i sold it. 001-10_zps5f8bb830.JPG

Thank you, that was one of my all male, or mostly male, supposed to be all male, african show tanks.
That is a female red zebra in the background and she was holding some young in her mouth.
No fry in the picture though. Thats just small debris.
