Anyone using a single axle dump trailer?

While I would prefer to have a longer trailer with the dual axle it would not be practical for the location I would primarily be using it in. My scrounging area is usually within a 10-mile radius from home so it would not be an issue to just make multiple trips with a smaller trailer.

Thanks, but as mentioned previously, I think a 10' trailer is too long for the location I would mainly be using it in. Two feet doesn't sound like much of a difference until you're trying to turn around on a narrow forest service road with a 100' drop off.

I like the way your thinking! I think the trailer your looking at makes sense for a 1500. Add that you scrounge less than 10 miles from home, and the maneuverability of a single axel. The trailer in my opinion will absolutely be a really good fit for your application. And will save so much wear and tear on your truck. Does it have brakes? Worst case you can always sell for a different trailer if you change your mind on the size.

I have made 4 trips with wood, loading without worrying about breaking glass, denting anything. Loading is fast and unloading even easier.

That's a good looking combo there Tom, but where's the snow?

From October when I bought the tractor and trailer. Here is a picture I just took, that’s the rink next beside the deck. @ 57 today it won’t last long.

I have a 6x10 single ram and have never heard it balk at all with a full load of logs. Been known to go well over ratings.
It was something I was concerned about but turned out to be a non issue.

I think the trailer will serve you well for the conditions you describe. The 1500’s sure do ride nicer. Would have bought one of those instead of my 2500 but couldn’t find a decent plow to go on one.

    I like this ^^^^set up!!

I think you'll be fine with that dump.
My only concern on trailers is how the push cylinder is always so far back in the middle of the bed. Its practically lifting the entire load right from the center
but thats how they get the bed angled up to empty. Just seems too hard on the cylinder.

If you over do it youll be shoveling the load back to get it started up. (I'm picturing a load of stone)

Nice setup! Before I traded in my Ram 2500 I was thinking of getting a tandem dump trailer so I could also tow my tractor. After deliberation, I realized I would only maybe trailer it once or twice a year, if at all, so it wasn't worth the investment to get the trailer. I think the single axle dump will be the way to go now that I have the 1500.
