Toms have been strutting here for over a week now. There's five been chasing the hens around. Our season starts end of April I am afraid it will be all over by then.

That photo is awesome, those guys will just move in and take everything over. I saw one in the driveway seriously attacking its reflection in the wheels and bumper of an F-150 once! Best I could get was some blurred photos through the window. It circled that whole truck beating on it before it gave up and took off.

We haven't had a fall turkey season in like 30 years.

Going to be 85f here today. Season starts in 14 days.

Yeah, you need to carry some backup with you when hunting them around here, you can have a whole flock just attack you like that. I recommend kevlar "snake bite leggings" and something like a Judge with 410 defense loads!

Maybe they will be done when the season starts, increasing the population?
Just looking at the bright side of things instead of doom and gloom!

Season is right around the corner here. Been seeing a good many birds around the house including 3 very nice longbeards.
I'm not crazy about turkey hunting, I go and stuff and have killed several but if the birds aren't gobbling good I'll call it quits and go fishing in a heartbeat,

I do want to kill one of those hanging around the house though

Wonder if the recent snow is driving the turkeys crazy?

Dusted off the ol' 870 tonight and swapped my long barrel onto it and changed the choke tube. Supposed to be nice out tomorrow so I will probably send shoot it a few times...I don't remember how it patterns or where to hold.

I always went "full" choke when I hunted turkeys and no more than 30 yrds if I could help it. I have an 870 wingmaster with a 28" full choke barrel, it's a turkey knock down hammer!!!

We deep fry the whole unlucky guy every year for Thanksgiving and they are great. It's more turkey flavor. Slightly less breast meat. Better than store bought.

Every wild turkey I've eaten you could drive nails with the drumsticks if you didn't cook them slowly. We usually filet off the breasts and smoke them and the rest goes in the pot for turkey and noodles.

Everyone I know does and says the same until they deep fry.
It irks me when people just breast the bird and Chuck the rest. Tons of good food thrown away!
I think the neck is gross so the dogs get that with the giblets!
