Also recommend removing the dog from the clutch cover side..makes saw a bit lighter and easier to tension chain…i think its pointless having two dogs for cutting firewood

At 20" on the 500 you might be able to kick it up a notch to a 8 pin or so...

If you did that would you need to change it back before running a 25 or 28?

Why would it only fit the 362/400 ? That mount size is 261-661 on everything else.

Long as it’s 3/8” should fit on them all, I looked at a few and they were all .325 so I could see them not saying bigger than the 362 because of that. But I do have an 18” bar and 9 pin .325 to put on my 066 for goofing around

Stihl uses 3 mounts, designated by the first four of the bar part number. From largest to smallest - 3002, 3003, & 3005. Stihl tends not to list really old models or uncommon combinations on the labels but that doesn't mean it's not possible. If you bought a 3003 xxx xxxx bar with a .325" sprocket, it would list the 50cc saws on the label, and not the 70 & 90 cc saws it also fits but would be very unusual to be running .325" chain. Stihl gives high preference to .325" chain on most saws under 60cc so that's why you may or may not see 50cc saws listed on the label for a 20" 3/8" bar. Comical how they don't list an 026/260 or MS261 on that bar, but include the MS290. :picard:

    3002 - MS881, MS880, 088, 084, 051, 075, 076, 070, 090 etc.
    3003 - MS661 - MS261, MS660 - MS260, 066 - 026, etc.
    3005 - Pretty much everything under 50cc. MS241 - MS171 etc.

    Here you go:

    As it sits…

Small Screwdriver to remove. Keep finger pressure on it… Has been to disappear in a jiffy…

Then remove the out retainer washer …
