Yep when I told him about the importance of drying the wood out and letting it season in split form and not in rounds I got that deer in the head lights look. But you never know he might try it and then find that dry wood burns easier, better, and with less creosote.

My 26 cords are all stacked pretty neat at the back of the property with pasture behind me. Now the neighbors all around, I bless them with camp fire wood......they never say a word when I come in with more, just smile and wave.

Sore and achy from the above labor last night (just the tip of the "woodburg") and as I toiled away my neighbor across the street (not my next door surveyor) came over to say she saw the zoning committee poking around my hoards and that they said I wasn't doing anything wrong and seemed to be totally on my property....their being there a mere technicality to appease our "ASSociation":p

If so inclined, have a campfire and invite people over.

    Unless they're too snooty.

There used to be labels for levels of hoarding here, anyone remember where?

Shouldn't have to go through something like that....

(I think the committee was there hoping to catch a glimpse of the outdoor shower in use.....;))

I've got trees dying around my wood stacks. Looks like I'm gonna have to start dropping them on the stacks because I'm not moving stacks but by attrition via burn them.
We'll see when it cools off.
I like being 3,4,5 years ahead of the game, but I have room.
I don't have to play the same management game someone might on a small lot.
But still run into space utilization priorities.

I am headed towards the bottom of the list I think. Both neighbors have large maples down from a storm, plus I have a ton of my own. All hard maple, hickory, ash and beech. I will pile the logs up this weekend for snd post a picture or two. IMG_5359.JPG IMG_5360.JPG IMG_5361.JPG
