They may not have mills but they probably drive those off brand skandahoovian saws or worse yet....run their splitters vertical.
A cautionary tale about table saw milling: The other day while in the middle of a cut, something went very wrong. The log grabbed, things moved faster than my brain could process, and the plastic guard around the blade shattered. Luckily my hands weren’t near the blade when it all happened. After a few keystrokes and a little button pushing, I materialized a new guard from aluminum. I never was a fan of the plastic anyway. Be safe, whatever, whenever, however you’re cutting.
Hey Eric , Hope we can meet at the next GTG. Seems like we might have something in common. Really nice work you did there.
Back in my woodworking days I’d save some nice rounds and splits and run em through a small craftsmen bandsaw. Paid $15 bucks for it at a tag sale. Sometimes the wood we burn has some great patterns in it Made a nice jewelry box out of a solid chunk of Apple once. Mostly to learn the methodology and see if the Apple would warp or check. Must’ve been pretty dry already because it never moved or checked.
