i just toss a half cord in the dump trailer. 18” high by 6’x10’. I go a little better to make sure On the to do list is building some rails to bring it up to 36” for a full cord. I hate math too.
I guess I'm still not even sure what the question was...or what problem is (was?) being solved...and has it already been solved? Can we even get there from here?
Question is if you took a solid cube of wood 4x4x8, cut it up, split it and stacked how big would the pile be. Or how much air is in a cord of wood. What I find intriguing is why anyone would want that figure LOL. Not knocking the question, questions are good. Just wondering how it’s applicable in the real world.
Have you read the thread? Did you read post #5? Do you think anyone ever comes up with a better mousetrap?
View attachment 357952 If thats the case then these couple chunks of sugar maple are a half cord? 36" diameter. Tree service cut and i didnt measure their cuts though.
I'm digging my way to this 38" oak at the village log dump. I figured about 3 totes worth, stacked, based on it's shorter and somewhat smaller diameter bothers.
Absolutely I’m always searching for a better mousetrap. Post #5 doesn’t make much sense to me. If your selling out of piles that’s tossed wood. Unless you measure and calculate every round, or trunk. Much easier to put half a cord on your trailer and deliver it. If your trailer only holds a half cord stacked put some plywood sides on it until it holds 1/2 cord tossed. Then you’ve alleviated the stacking. Want smaller quantities? Draw a line in the trailer of build small pens out of pallets to hold a specific tossed amount. Do the math once and be done with it.
