Im down 9 pounds in 3 weeks doing the 18 hour fast daily and not hogging out when I'm in my 6 hour eating window. I'm less hungry and I'm full with less now.

The ONLY things that ever works long term is a balanced diet and more exercise. I've seen way too many people get on all these fad diets [Adkins, Keto, whatever else] and yes, they lose weight short term. But it always comes back. Your body and your mind start craving the things you're forbidding and you binge and then you're right back where you started from or even further behind. Moderation [including exercise] and common sense is the way to go.

I ride either a recumbent exercise bike 4-5 time a week 40 minutes each or in warmer weather a recumbent trike. We usually ride a 13 mile loop around our rural neighborhood Monday through Friday then hit the rail trail on Saturday. That ride is 25-40 miles.

Eggnog is a weakness here too, especially when spiked (melon liquer, butter schnopps, kaluah, Jamacan rum).
We make our own raw eggnog.

I stopped trying the keto thing when i read the reasons people dont stay in ketosis. Had the meter an everything.

I like the paleo thing, its not a diet (as we think of diets) as much as an eating style. If Grok the peleolithic man couldnt find it and eat it, neither should we. Essentially we eat what our bodies were designed to eat, and digest. Pretty simple.

What really put me on the wrong path was first getting some non covid sickness that lasted 4.5 weeks. Last November late. The caughing from lung goo caused me to dislocate / seperate ribs in the front on both sides multiple times. I had to be wrapped like they were broken just to be able to breathe without pain. They are still tender. Then, because of my 4 neck surgeries this years constant up and down weather really took its toll. So with a 3 month span of hardly being able to exercise and my super power of over eating, I packed it on.

Thank you. The first few days were tough but its not that hard now. It will be even easier when the weather stays above 40 and I can get outside away from the food.

I don't diet by the scale, but how the jeans fit. I have been retired 7 years and gone up one waist size. I refuse to go up more. When the jeans start getting tight I either cut out some of the crap food or walk more.

    Same here.
Its about how I look, less about the pounds.
If I work hard and put muscle on, going by the scale will be less than useful.

I just have yet to cut the food. But Im getting there!

I’m following this closely. Going to be 60 this year I guess I’ve never really been overweight 6’1” 162 lbs. but I just feel like I’ve lost a so much strength over the past 10 years or so. I feel like a poor piece of furniture my chest has fallen into my drawers!

So I'm heading for the paleo routine here. Nothing processed, raw where practical, no cerial grains (cerial, wheat flour, rice, pasta).
More salads, plenty of meat, eggz, real cheese.
Fat is ok, but since I need to loose that, coffee straight up regularly, with cream rarely till the weight is gone. Also limiting fruit, which whilst healthy is still high in sugar.
    Lotsa water.

Intermittent fasting: 8 and 16. 8 hours of eating glory, 16 hours not.
I'd like to do the oddball 72 hour fast. Some day a 40 day fast.

Fasted exercise: any exercise I can do, from walking around the house to splitting by hand, other firewood hoarding activities, bike ride, prayer walking, as much as I can done in the fasted state.

Cheats: weekly: someone invites me over or out to dinner, or buys me a meal (company meals). This is not an excuse to go hog wild, so healthier choices need to prevail, but indulgences are allowed. OR 1 cheat meal a week, a sandwich or ice cream. But as a treat and not permission to eat three sandwiches. Im not hurting anyone but my self by cheating hard-core.

I need to loose 30ish pounds of pork. If muscle goes on and weight loss plateaus, thats fine. Im closing on 50, so this is the time to make it work. 2 maybe three months of hard going should do it. Then, I can keep the "diet" and cut back exercise a little.

    Paleo is a lifestyle.
80% compliance is better than 0% compliance.
My stomach will shrink simply by not stuffing it always.

I was reading a article and there is all kinds of information and stats on this but most men when they get in there forty’s suffer from low testosterone levels. I know that testosterone is a powerful male hormone and is responsible for a lot of things. They claim when your testosterone level is in the normal range you build more muscle and naturally have less fat. I have a friend that swears by taking it that he has never felt better in his life. Claims he is stronger doesn’t hurt all the time and has lost weight. They claimed a simple blood test can tell we’re your levels are at.
